Robb Report's 15th Annual 'Best of the Best' Reveals Ultimate in Luxury Travel

June Issue Features Editors’ Selections for World’s Finest Resorts, Hotels, Airlines, and Dining

MALIBU, CA– Culminating a year’s search for the luxury world’s most extraordinary products and services, Robb Report’s 15th annual “Best of the Best” features an array of selections representing the very finest in domestic and international travel.

Scheduled to hit newsstands on May 22, Robb Report’s eagerly awaited June issue includes the following selections from the magazine’s editorial staff:

Best of the Best Resorts
Offering a unique combination of sophisticated glamour and beach-casual elegance, the Montage Resort & Spa in Southern California’s stunning Laguna Beach has been selected as “Best of the Best Resorts” by Robb Report. Contributing Writer Maryann Hammers lauds the Montage’s exquisite guest rooms, which offer a wealth of amenities and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Additional features include a glass-walled wellness center overlooking the ocean, and dining on Chef James Boyce’s Mediterranean cuisine at the resort’s signature restaurant, Studio.

Selected as “Best Resorts” were Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa (Tahiti), El Tamarindo Golf Resort (Mexico), The St. Regis Mardavall Resort (Mallorca), Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows (Hawaii), Ocean Club (Bahamas), and Ritz Carlton St. Thomas (USVI).

Best of the Best Hotels
With romantic rooms offering breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower, the Pantheon and Notre Dame,” the Four Seasons Hotel George V Paris earns “Best of the Best Hotels” honors. Lauded for “its incomparable capacity to accommodate guests’ desires and interests,” the historic property boasts Le Cinq, the first restaurant in the city to earn three Michelin stars within three years of its opening.

Robb Report’s editors chose the following as “Best Hotels”: Grace Bay Club (Turks and Caicos Islands), Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi, Grace Bay Club, Hotel Bel Air (California), Hotel de Russie (Rome), WaterColor Inn (Florida).

Best of the Best Airlines
The editors of Robb Report named Singapore Airlines as “Best of the Best Airlines,” citing its ability to upgrade its first-class amenities despite the challenging travel market. “Take the interior of a Rolls-Royce, the hospitality of a five-star hotel and the epicurean delights of a gourmet restaurant, and send them 33,000 feet in the air,” the magazine states. “The result is Singapore Air.”

British Airways and Cathay Pacific earned “Best Airlines” honors.

Best of the Best Dining
Offering “superior food amid an elegant, sometimes playful atmosphere,” Alain Ducasse at the Essex House has been named as “Best of the Best Dining” by the editors of Robb Report. “From the moment you enter until you step out on the streets of Manhattan, your senses are indulged with a series of unique, remarkable pleasures,” states Contributing Writer Scott Haas. “The excitement derives not just from the food, but from the service and atmosphere—and it is all so sophisticated and restrained that the dining experience there prompts an immediate reevaluation of every other upscale meal you have ever enjoyed.”

Recognized in Robb Report’s “Best Dining” category were AZ (New York), Citarella (New York), Das Fletschhorn (Switzerland), The French Laundry (California), L’Arpège (Paris), L’Auberge de l’Ill (France), Taillevent (Paris), and Zuni Café
(California).

Best of the Best U.S. Golf Resorts
An “amusing mix of continental elegance and down-home Southern hospitality,” The Lodge at Sea Island in St. Simons Island, Georgia has been named as “Best of the Best U.S. Golf Resort.” Robb Report editors selected The Lodge because of its “three delightfully different golf courses,” and its exclusive 40 rooms and suites, which are “individually decorated with Oriental rugs softening the hardwood floors and rich tapestries covering the sofas and chaises, and bathrooms featuring polished marble, English-style fixtures and deep soak tubs.”

Named as “Best U.S. Golf Resorts” were Brandon Dunes Golf Resort (Oregon), Casa Palmero at Pebble Beach (California) and Lodge and Spa at Cordillera (Colorado).

Best of the Best International Golf Resorts
Selected from an extensive list of exceptional properties, Greywalls, in Gullane, Scotland, has been named as “Best of the Best International Golf Resort.” Offering “chintz-laden bedrooms, welcoming public rooms, and top-shelf cuisine,” Greywalls is uniquely situated in front of the ninth hole of the famous Murifield links, host to the British Open since 1892.

Earning “Best International Golf Resorts honors were Château des Vigiers Golf and Country Club (France), Fairmont Chateau Whistler (Canada), Kauri Cliffs (New Zealand).
