September Issue Highlights “Workweek Power Suits and Weekend Casual Wear”
MALIBU, CA–International luxury-lifestyle authority Robb Report has joined forces with some of the most prominent names in fashion design and photography to present readers an exclusive look at the luxury world’s most exceptional fall apparel.
Scheduled to hit newsstands on August 19, the September issue showcases the hottest trends and styles from the international luxury world’s preeminent fashion designers. This year’s presentation focuses on “workweek power suits and weekend casual wear,” as illustrated by renowned photographers Harry Benson and David Drebin.
To convey the elegance and exclusivity of these styles, Robb Report enlisted the services of acclaimed fashion director Joseph DeAcetis, who, working in conjunction with Robb Report Senior Vice President and Design Director Ken DeBie, established an innovative and passionately patriotic theme to the special issue.
“Given the fact that this is an election year, I felt it was not only appropriate, but rather essential, that we emphasize the importance of this country as it relates to men’s fashion trends,” explains Robb Report Editor in Chief Brett Anderson.
As a result, the nation’s capital was selected as the setting for the issue’s more formal fashions. “Because Washington, D.C., offers such beautiful and historic architecture, it was an ideal location,” Mr. Anderson further states.
To most effectively convey these business-day fashions, Robb Report secured the services of renowned photojournalist Harry Benson—who has photographed 10 American presidents, from Dwight Eisenhower to George W. Bush. While Embassy Row, Arlington Memorial Bridge, and the Capitol steps provided a strong architectural backdrop, the eighth-floor suite at the Hay-Adams hotel impressed Benson the most. “The view of the White House is incredibly dramatic,” says Mr. Benson, who began his career in the United States in 1964, traveling with the Beatles to document their first American tour.
Adorning those cityscapes were fashions from a veritable Who’s Who of luxury designers, including Ralph Lauren, Kiton, Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney, Ermenegildo Zegna, Burberry, Dunhill, Massimo Bizzocchi, Stefano Ricci, and Fratelli Rossetti, as well as a handbag from Salvatore Ferragamo and jewelry from Kwiat and Tiny Jewel Box.
For the ultimate casual approach to fall fashion, Mr. DeAcetis headed west to a multimillion-dollar beachfront home in Malibu, on the sun-drenched Southern California coast, for a shoot with former Baywatch star Angelica Bridges.
“We had great people and the perfect setting; it was like a good meal where everything comes together,” says Mr. Drebin, whose work appears in galleries throughout the world, including an upcoming show at the Fahey/Klein Gallery in Los Angeles. The assignment provided an opportunity for Mr. Drebin—who is best known for creating images that tell tales of love—to mix passion with vocation. “They are stories about the reality of being together and the fantasy of being apart,” says Drebin, whose book Love and Other Stories depicts beautiful, hip, and adventurous people in romantic settings.
For the more casual shoot, Robb Report’s September issue features fashions from Avon Celli, Versace, Dunhill, Bottega Veneta, Brioni, Chanel, and Canali, as well as a timepiece from Corum and diamond jewelry from Norman Silverman.
