Mr. C Beverly hills is technically not in Beverly Hills: The 138-room hotel, which debuted in June, occupies a 12-?story tower on the Los Angeles corner of Pico Boulevard and Beverwil Drive. But if a Beverly Hills–adjacent address is a perceived blemish, it has not prevented Mr. C from becoming one of the hottest spots on the Westside since its opening by Venice’s Cipriani family.

Four generations after Giuseppe Cipriani founded the Venetian haunt Harry’s Bar in 1931, the Cipriani family presides over a restaurant empire that extends from New York to Hong Kong. Mr. C is the company’s only hotel, and its first venture on the West Coast. Old World influences are evident in the guest rooms, which include 12 suites with nightstands modeled after turn-of-the-century steamer trunks. In the rosewood-paneled lobby, Venetian-glass chandeliers cast light over a sunken bar, where guests checking in to the hotel are greeted by a clerk—and the offer of a fresh Bellini, the Cipriani classic created some 60 years ago at Harry’s.

The Mr. C restaurant, located adjacent to the lobby, has become an immediate sensation thanks to such Cipriani favorites as beef carpaccio (another Harry’s original). Food can also be ordered from the hotel’s poolside cabanas, although the Mr. C signature cocktail—vodka, Prosecco, simple syrup, and fresh lemon and mandarin juices—is the most suitable companion for an L.A. afternoon.
