Private Preview 2005: Born Again

The first 100 signature series Norton 952 Commando models are expected to rumble off Norton Motorsports’ production line in Gladstone, Ore., and into customers’ garages in time for prime riding season next summer. “People who have put down deposits are definitely excited,” says Commando designer Kenny Dreer, who founded the company and revived the Norton marque. As of this summer, performance specifications had not been finalized, but the $19,995 bike, which features the classic styling and race-ready performance of the vintage British Nortons, is expected to produce approximately 85 hp and just less than 70 ft lbs of torque. For anyone who missed out on reserving one of the signature series bikes, Norton plans to produce 400 additional Commandos next year.
