Private Preview 2005: Right to Privacy

The next offering from celebrated spa designer Angel Stewart—of Las Ventanas al Paraíso and Golden Door fame—will be the spa at the Palms, scheduled to open in January 2005 in the Turks and Caicos. Canopied by towering date palms and flanked by trickling waterways, the spa will evoke the majestic ambience of the Taj Mahal. To ensure privacy, each of the eight cabanas will be separated by water, and staff members will travel from one section of the spa to another through underground tunnels. Most noteworthy, however, will be the novel treatments, including one that will combine a massage with a session in the Bouvier Crystal Tub, which will use color, light, and sound therapies to induce a state of deep relaxation. Another treatment, the Sacred Enclosure, will involve a massage and a solitary steam session incorporating blends of local herbs developed by an island herbalist for detoxification and cleansing.
