Private Preview 2005: Standing Tall

Denmark’s dramatic Eben X-Streme speakers will surely turn heads when they debut in the United States next year. The line should win the approval of audio enthusiasts as well as interior designers, because the company engineers its speakers to work well even with exotic, low-powered tube amplifiers. The ribbon tweeter used throughout the line promises to bathe the listener in music’s delicate nuances, while the high-quality woofers should provide satisfying bass. Importer Dyana Audio Design will price the line’s stately flagship—the nearly 6-foot-tall Eben X-4—at $33,000 per pair, or $35,000 per pair in piano black. Add three or five smaller X-Centric speakers if you want surround sound.
