Private Preview 2005: Topless Bull

    The wind in your hair will become a gale when you drive the Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster. When it is delivered later this year, the new version of the 12-cylinder Italian monster will boast specifications similar to those of the hard-top model, which was released in 2001. The convertible will be powered by a 6.2-liter 580 hp engine that produces 480 ft lbs of torque at 5,400 rpm and propels the car to a top speed approaching 200 mph. Lamborghini is making several adjustments to stiffen the chassis of the roofless Murciélago, including adding a lattice on the engine compartment to keep the car stable. A soft-top roof will be an option, but it will be designed for speeds below 100 mph, a pace that any track-bound Lamborghini driver could never resist exceeding.
