Private Preview 2007: Sunseeker 37-Meter Trideck Yacht

  • Shaun Tolson

British yacht maker Sunseeker plans to launch what it considers to be the pinnacle of its product line by the end of this year. That is quite a claim, considering that this line already includes the 75 Predator (the 1999 British Nautical Awards’ Motorboat of the Year), the Sunseeker 105 (named best power boat in the 75- to 105-foot range by the International Superyacht Society in 2000), and the 108 Predator (a Robb Report Best of the Best honoree in 2005). Now the company is nearing completion of its 37-Meter Trideck Yacht, the largest build in its fleet.

Measuring just over 121 feet long, the Trideck will house twin diesel engines with a combined 5,624 hp that will propel the yacht to a cruising speed of 28 mph and a top speed of 30 mph, and the boat’s 7,740-gallon fuel capacity will give it a range of about 1,820 miles. In addition to being the largest vessel in the Sunseeker fleet, the Trideck will be the company’s first that is completely customized. “We will no doubt produce a very traditional, classic-looking yacht to suit a certain owner,” says Sean Robertson, director of Sunseeker USA. “But the next 37-Meter off the production line could be the complete opposite—an ultramodern, contemporary-style yacht.”

The Trideck will accommodate as many as 10 passengers and eight crew. The full-beam master stateroom on the main deck will include an office, a seating area, and a spacious bathroom with a shower. The yacht’s sky deck will feature a hot tub, bar, and dining area, while just below, a large carpeted salon on the upper deck will provide plenty of comfortable seating. The main deck will include a lounge and a full-beam dining area with a freestanding table that will seat as many as 12. To give guests privacy, the captain’s cabin will provide direct access to the wheelhouse on the upper deck, and the galley and utility area on the main deck will have separate access to the crew quarters below.

The Trideck’s price is expected to begin at about $16 million.
