Remote Thai Getaway

  • Alexandra Foster

To get to the newly opened remote Soneva Kiri by Six Senses spa resort, guests must take an eight-seat private jet on a 60-minute flight from mainland Thailand then take a short boat ride to Kood, the resort’s private island. The spa opened July 1, five years after owners Sonu and Eva Shivdasani first announced the project. This is the third Soneva in the Six Senses portfolio, and it has all the earmarks of the couple’s earlier projects: an eco-friendly, sustainable resort using local and organic ingredients. The spa’s different suite options include a Green House, a zero-carbon emissions suite, complete with a bio-climatically designed pool villa. In keeping with its eco-friendly style, the resort has several treetop pods surrounding the property for private dining. Many suites include private treatment rooms, but Soneva Kiri offers a vast array of private or couples’ spa treatments throughout the property, as well as yoga classes and nutritional lectures. Rates start at $1,192, exclusive of taxes, breakfast and the airport transfer. (www.sixsenses.com/Soneva-kiri/index.php)
