La Grenouille

The Last Man Standing of traditional, formal French restaurants in New York City, La Grenouille’s staying power is as much the result of the gorgeous, well-cared-for interior as of its immaculate renditions of country pâté, duck confit, roasted chicken, and grilled Dover sole with mustard sauce. The Upper East Side jewel box is currently watched over by Chales Masson the Younger (it was established in 1962 by his eponymous father), who’s known for his exquisite floral arrangements that grace the dining room.

Specialties: Sautéed grenouilles (frog legs) Provençale; any of the soufflés.
