Montegrappa Paulo Coelho

The Montegrappa Paulo Coelho pen (866.854.1674, www.montegrappa.com) is a tribute to the acclaimed Brazilian author of The Pilgrimage, a 1987 novel based on his experience walking the approximately 500-mile journey from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. References to the book include the engraving of a compass on the pen’s cap crown and, on this $13,000 version, a line of diamonds—beginning and ending with an emerald—that traces Coelho’s path across a map of France and Spain formed on the barrel from yellow-gold overlay. The pen’s cap is engraved with Coelho’s signature. Montegrappa produced 1,947 examples of the pen, a number corresponding to the year of Coelho’s birth. Of those, only 47 feature the gold overlay and diamonds.
