Four Seasons Resort, Lana`i at Manele Bay

The Four Seasons Resort, Lana`i at Manele Bay’s two golf courses—the Challenge at Manele and the Experience at Koele—are the main Recreational draws on Lanai, but the island also is a haven for hikers, mountain bikers, hunters, and fishermen. The resort’s recent $50 million makeover is subtle. The grounds incorporate acres of verdant gardens with koi ponds and rock waterfalls, while rooms feature patios or balconies with lounge furniture and day beds. Accommodations Garden views or ocean vistas from the 215 guest rooms and 21 suites; the largest of which is more than 5,000 square feet. Recreation Snorkeling, scuba diving, whale watching, horseback riding, hunting, an 11-treatment-room spa, and four-wheel-drive expeditions. Dining Manele’s four restaurants and two bars all have ocean views. Worthy Diversion Head to Koele to test your skills on the solar-powered target-shooting course, which is set on a 200-acre site in a pine-covered valley. Rates Rooms from $395 to $1,200; suites from $900 to $7,500.
