Intercontinental’s first resort in the United States brings a bit of Andalusia to the Arizona desert. Modeled after villages in southern Spain, the InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa in Paradise Valley is a patchwork of villas, fountains, courtyards, walkways, and arched entryways at the foot of Camelback Mountain. Accommodations 252 guest rooms, 39 suites, and 2 freestanding presidential villas with private swimming pools. Dining Options include a tapas bar and a Spanish restaurant with a wood-fired grill, which further the Andalusian theme. Facilities A 31,000-square-foot fitness center and spa with 19 treatment rooms (five featuring private terraces with king-size day beds, fireplaces, and televisions). Recreation Although Montelucia does not have a golf course, the resort’s concierge can arrange tee times at any of 20 clubs in the Scottsdale area. Rates From $145 to $4,000.
