The One&Only Palmilla

The One&Only Palmilla, which underwent a $90 million renovation in 2003, is a 250-acre seaside resort with Spanish-wrought iron gates, heavy Mission-style doors, and a courtyard surrounded by palm trees and vines. Guests enjoy the 27-hole, Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and spa treatments in Palmilla’s 13 open-air garden villas. Accommodations The 172 guest rooms, junior suites, and one-bedroom suites range in size from 700 to 1,400 square feet. Recreation The resort has tennis courts, a fitness center, Hummers for desert exploration, a 50-foot Sunseeker yacht, and a fleet of fishing vessels. Dining Charlie Trotter’s C restaurant serves the Chicago chef’s interpretation of south-of-the-border fare. Worthy Diversion Visit the spa for a Transformational Breath Work treatment: an hour-long respiratory evaluation and training session in which guests learn how to breathe effectively. Rates From $450 for a standard room in summer to $2,600 for a one-bedroom suite in winter.
