The Point

Feeling at home is the theme at the Point, an Adirondack Great Camp resort on New York’s Upper Saranac Lake. Mention your desire to paddle on the lake, and a picnic basket might be waiting for you in a canoe. Guests can explore the local wilderness by sailboat or bicycle, the use of which is included in the room Rates. In maintaining the exclusive traditions of Great Camps, the Point keeps its location a secret; you receive directions to the resort only when you have made your reservation. Accommodations The 11 lake-view guest rooms include the over-water Boathouse, which is frequently booked two years in advance. Recreation Hiking, cycling, canoeing, fishing, sailing, tennis, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, skating, and hockey. Dining The kitchen staff will prepare just about anything you request, and you can enjoy the meals at a formal communal table, in the privacy of your room, or in the lakeshore lean-to. Worthy Diversion Climb one of the 4,000-foot-plus peaks in Adirondack State Park. Rates From $1,250 to $2,600 per couple; rental of the entire property begins at about $20,000 per night.
