Wickaninnish Inn

In the woods of Vancouver Island, guests of the Wickaninnish Inn recline in Muskoka chairs at the Ancient Cedars Spa, soaking their feet in large copper basins. The spa’s rustic interior of cedarwood and slate bears a strong resemblance to the surrounding landscape. Indulging continues with fine Dining at Pointe Restaurant, where the menu includes grilled Alberta rib eye with braised rib tortellini and cauliflower puree. Accommodations Two adjacent low-rise buildings house 75 guest rooms and suites, all with ocean views, balconies, and soaking tubs. Recreation Whales migrate up and down the coast from March through October, and storm-watching season runs from November through February. Dining Try On the Rocks Bar & Lounge for cocktails and chowder and the Driftwood Coffee Lounge for light fare. Worthy Diversion Look for bald eagles, harbor seals, and river otters while exploring Clayoquot Sound aboard a sea kayak. Rates From $210 for a standard guest room in the winter to $1,300 for the Canopy Suite during the summer.
