Room With a View

Sanlorenzo is not a hugely familiar name among U.S. yacht owners, but its shipyard in Viareggio, Italy, has been building distinctive custom yachts for a half century. The recently launched SD122, its new flagship, was designed in the spirit of a 1930s ocean liner, blending straight traditional hull lines with a somewhat evocative superstructure.

The interior, with its extensive, contemporary woodwork and light-color decor, resembles a fashionable pied-à-terre in the heart of Milan or Paris. The 122-foot yacht also provides ample room to roam along the three decks, including a large flybridge with Hydropool and rear-facing terrace, a sky lounge on the deck below, with another terrace for alfresco dining. The layout includes five spacious staterooms for 10 guests, including the full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck. There are also four crew cabins. The semi-displacement hull, powered by twin 1,600-hp Caterpillars, reaches a top speed of 17 knots. It can cover 2,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Not exactly transatlantic range but plenty to cruise the breadth of the Caribbean or Mediterranean. (954.376.4794, www.sanlorenzoyacht.com)
