  • Trail Map and Horseshoe

San Diego’s Grand Del Mar resort recently opened the Equestrian Center—a 4,100-acre reserve with 37 miles of trails for horseback riding lessons, rides, and other programs. Its activities range from a 15-minute pony ride for $25 to a three-hour class covering barn safety, horse grooming and bathing, riding pointers, games, and crafts for $100. The center provides hour-and-a-half-long lessons for everything from basic riding to advanced show jumping for $125, customized to the participant’s skill level. Among the special packages is the Picnic n’ Ride ($275), a two-hour ride through Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve with a picnic lunch. Events for small groups and private parties are also available upon request. (858.314.2000, www.thegranddelmar.com)
