“People want the best cars, the best watches,” says Robert Bettinardi, founder of Bettinardi Golf (708.802. 7400, www.bettinardi.com). “We make the finest putters in the world.” There is no question that Bettinardi makes some of the most expensive putters in the world. The Tinley Park, Ill., company’s new 44 Magnum, a limited edition club that debuted in December, retails for a robust $1,500. “The 44 is for the type of person who wears an Audemars Piguet,” explains Bettinardi. “And as with an Audemars Piguet, it took a lot of time to design this putter.”

Carved from a single block of stainless steel, the Magnum contains 44 hand-placed copper plugs in the head. The solid construction provides a predictable balance on the green, while the hand-laid details make for an artistic piece that is guaranteed to garner the attention of your fellow golfers. Of course, your putting game is one thing you may not want to attract attention to.
