FrontRunners: In the Swing

<< Back to Robb Report, July 2008

No one who has seen Jack Nicklaus stand over a putt would ever doubt the deliberate and considered nature of his game. Beginning next spring at the Bear Mountain Resort (www.bearmountain.ca) on British Columbia’s Vancouver Island, golfers from novice to scratch will be able to emulate Nicklaus’ techniques, if not his skills, at the property’s Nicklaus Golf Academy. This September, Bear Mountain will debut the Valley Course, a 6,890-yard track designed by Nicklaus and his son Steve. . . . For golfers who prefer learning and playing in a warmer climate, the Half Moon Bay Resort (www.halfmoon.com) in Rose Hall, Jamaica, has opened a golf academy led by PGA professional Ewan Peebles. The transplanted Scot, who is Jamaica’s top-ranked pro, helps prepare guests to play the resort’s Robert Trent Jones Sr.–designed course, which Roger Rulewich recently renovated.
