FrontRunners: Positive Spin

Famous for pioneering the small-wheel bicycle, England’s Moulton Bicycle Company has launched a new model that harks back to the firm’s start in the swinging Sixties. The $6,500 stainless-steel Moulton 60 (www.moultonbicycles.co.uk), of which only 191 examples will be produced, features design elements that made the original 1962 Moulton popular with both competitive and recreational riders. The bike’s 17-inch wheels and high-pressure tires help to make it more aerodynamic than standard road bicycles, and the rigid frame and full suspension system further enhance its performance. Other design improvements have enabled Moulton to improve on the original bike’s road holding, cornering stability, and rider comfort.
