The Best of the Best 2003: Megayachts - Lurssen

With its pale gray hull and minimalist interior, Skat, the 233-foot Lurssen megayacht, stands out in a crowd. While many yachts feature flowing, sumptuous curves, Skat has been designed with sharp creases and angles that complement the stark grays and whites of the boat’s salons and staterooms.

Perhaps the yacht’s most distinctive feature is the greenhouselike structure on the starboard side that houses an office, a conference room, a library, and a staff cabin. Natural light pours into each room, while a powerful air-conditioning system prevents the structure from overheating. The upper deck includes a sauna, a gym, and a landing area for the owner’s helicopter.

Skat, which is powered by twin MTU engines that provide the 233-footer with a top speed of nearly20 mph, can accommodate as many as eight guests.
