The Best of the Best 2003: Speedboats - Wally Wally Tender

  • Fluto Shinzawa

From afar, the teak-decked Wally WallyTender resembles a classic, angular, 1930s-era wooden runabout. However, when the 45-footer revs its twin 420-hp Volvo engines, it reveals itself as a strikingly modern yacht.

The sharp-angled boat, which, as its moniker suggests, can serve as a tender on a megayacht, can slice through the water at 60 mph and consume long stretches of open ocean. With its two-foot draft, the $450,000 WallyTender can also wend through shallow straits and rivers. The interior includes double bunks, a Sony stereo system, and a bathroom with shower, making the boat suitable for overnight journeys.
