Falcon’s Nest Villa at Peter Island Resort

Zorianna Kit

The Resort: In the 1960s, Norwegian businessman Torolf Smedvig built a series of A-frame chalets on his 1,800-acre Caribbean isle and opened the property as Peter Island Resort. Smedvig’s exclusive retreat—located across the Sir Francis Drake Channel from Tortola in the British Virgin Islands—has been updated and expanded over the years, and today features clusters of rooms and suites with views of either a 15-slip marina at Sprat Bay or the white sands of Deadman’s Beach. Guests can stroll down from the rooms to the nearby bar and grill, tennis courts, water-sports pavilion, and spa, or they can explore the island—most of which remains undeveloped—on one of its many hiking trails.

The Villa: Perched on a 350-foot bluff adjacent to a helicopter pad, Falcon’s Nest overlooks Peter Island’s virgin southern beaches. The 22,000-square-foot, six-bedroom villa, which opened in 2007, comes with a dedicated chef, driver, and manager, and houses its own gym and suite for spa treatments. Living areas include a large family room with double-high ceilings, a media room, and a 12-seat dining area. The 4,000-square-foot backyard patio features a hot tub, a bar, an outdoor kitchen, and a two-tier infinity pool with a grotto and a waterfall.

The Highlight: Guests can institute a no-fly zone over the island, ensuring that no paparazzi interrupt their vacation.

The Price: From $11,500 per night for as many as 12 guests. 616.458.6767, www.peterisland.com
