    Since 1778, people have been journeying to West Virginia’s White Sulphur Springs to bathe in the city’s healing waters. The Greenbrier hotel opened in 1913 to provide lodging for these visitors, and now the 6,750-acre resort will be home to a 21st-century wonder of wellness: the Greenbrier Medical Institute (www.greenbrier.com). Scheduled to open in early 2013, the $250 million first phase of the facility will include an all-new version of the 64-year-old Greenbrier Clinic, a Jim Andrews sports-medicine center, an academy of cosmetic surgery and lifestyle, a sports performance and training facility, and a boutique hotel.
