Capella Pedregal

Few places on Earth have as dense a concentration of first-rate resorts as Mexico’s Los Cabos corridor. This stretch at the tip of Baja California, which connects the towns of San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, is home to the ultraromantic Las Ventanas al Paraíso, the enchanting cliff-top hideaway Esperanza, and the classic, hacienda-style One&Only Palmilla. Now add Capella Pedregal to Los Cabos’ collection of fine hotels.

Opened in July near the very tip of the peninsula, just up from the Land’s End rock formation, Pedregal fits neatly into Los Cabos’ portfolio. The property suits both the romantic-getaway set and families, with a 66-room hotel section intended primarily for couples and a residential area (many of the shared-ownership units are available as nightly rentals) good for travelers with children.

Pedregal also offers something Los Cabos’ other top properties do not: direct access to Cabo San Lucas. The resort is within walking distance of the town’s marina, yet Pedregal feels as secluded as any exclusive Los Cabos hotel. The only way to access the 24-?acre property by car is through a private tunnel the developers carved through the mountain that divides this part of the Pacific Coast from downtown Cabo.
