Grand Openings: Treasure Island
Though once a gathering place for pirates, the pristine cove that is the setting for the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles is now perhaps the most peaceful stretch on Mahé, the main island in the Seychelles chain. The hotel, which opened in February, has 67 accommodations (all individual villas or multiroom houses called "suites") that sit on stilts along and above a white-sand beach. Nestled among cinnamon and frangipani trees, some of the hillside villas afford enough privacy for you to cavort naked in your outdoor plunge pool (an amenity in every dwelling).
The high point of the Four Seasons, literally and figuratively, is the spa: The facility conducts yoga classes on an elevated deck that overlooks the blue horizon. The pocket of the Indian Ocean that fronts the resort also provides colorful displays, with a reef populated with tropical fish. In addition to nature’s art, the property offers works by George Camille in its gallery—tempting as it might be for guests to plunder the artist’s works from the bedroom walls.
