The best way to see Vancouver is from the back of Jim Dudley’s Bentley Continental Flying Spur. Dudley, the former general manager of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, serves as a chauffeur, impromptu tour guide, and trusted local friend to guests of the city’s Rosewood Hotel Georgia. In the comfort of his Continental, he guides visitors around the Canadian cultural hub he has called home for more than 50 years, from Gastown to Yaletown, Stanley Park to Granville Island. All roads eventually lead back to the corner of Georgia and Howe Streets, site of the gloriously restored Hotel Georgia.

First opened in 1927, the Georgia emerged from a four-and-a-half-year renovation in July. The revived Georgian Revival structure now houses 155 modern guest rooms that include the 12th-floor Lord Stanley and Rosewood suites, each with two bedrooms and a rooftop terrace. A spa and saltwater pool (pictured) border a courtyard bar on the fourth floor, and a soon-to-open jazz lounge on the basement level will honor the hotel’s Roaring Twenties roots.

Dudley can shuttle you to other top venues in Vancouver’s thriving cocktail and culinary scene, though one of the city’s hottest spots is just an elevator ride away: Hawksworth Restaurant, set on the Georgia’s ground floor, features the casual contemporary cuisine of esteemed local chef David Hawksworth and includes a 60-seat private dining room with views of the Vancouver Art Gallery.
