Sneak Peek: D-Hotel Maris, Datça Peninsula, Turkey

Turkey’s D-Hotel Maris, located on a hillside perch of the Datça Peninsula—about a two-hour ride via helicopter or seaplane from Istanbul—reopened on April 20 after a year of renovations. All of the 200 rooms, many with private balconies and outdoor bathtubs, offer panoramic views of the protected bay below, nearby pine forests, volcanic mountains, and, in the distance, the spot where the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean meet. Its presidential suite has a Jacuzzi and roof terrace, and a villa features 24-hour butler service, a kitchen, and a private hammam. Among the resort’s numerous amenities are five private beaches, a fitness center, and a spa with indoor and outdoor pools and a hammam. Guests can also explore the nearby Greek islands via private yacht charter, take classes at the on-site tennis and international sailing schools, partake in water sports offered from the dive center across the bay, and enjoy the resort’s gourmet Ottoman and Aegean cuisine. Rates start at $417 a night. (+90.252.441.2000, www.dhotel.com.tr)
