Twelve at Hengshan, a Luxury Collection hotel, has opened in Shanghai, making it the brand’s fourth property in China. Situated on the tree-lined Hengshan Road, the hotel offers a quiet oasis in the heart of one of the world’s busiest cities. Blending Shanghai’s rich history with contemporary design, the five-story hotel has 171 rooms and suites, many of which overlook an internal elliptical garden decorated with streams and imported trees. The hotel has two restaurants: Tops and Terrace, a contemporary European and Mediterranean restaurant; and 12 Hengshan, which focuses on traditional Cantonese fare. The hotel also hosts Starwood’s largest spa in the city, with 14 treatment rooms. Rates start at about $245 a night. (+86.21. 3338.3888; www.theluxurycollection.com/12hengshan)
