Spring Cleaning at Elysian Spa

From now through the end of June, Elysian Spa & Health Club, located at the Elysian Hotel in Chicago’s lakefront Gold Coast neighborhood, is offering treatments inspired by healing practices used in Thailand. The treatments are a part of a yearlong series of seasonal spa menus, comprising culturally inspired services from around the world. These spring specials consist of the 60-minute Ginger Body Exfoliation, which incorporates rice bran, ginger root, and spices to stimulate your skin ($170); and the 60- and 90-minute traditional Thai massages, said to heal the body through a combination of deep massage and yoga-like stretches ($175 to $260). Elysian’s 90-minute Thai-inspired Bamboo Facial uses heated bamboo sticks to massage and release muscle tension, as well as a ginger-based hand- and foot-care component ($230).

Elysian’s expansive spa includes 12 treatment rooms, saunas and steam rooms, a pool, a hair and nail salon, a men’s atelier, an outdoor terrace, and a health club with personal training. (312.646.1310, www.elysianhotels.com/spa-and-health-club)
