The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong

The reemergence of the Ritz-Carlton brand in Hong Kong is no short story. Nearly three years after the Ritz-Carlton in the city’s central business district closed, its successor opened in a high-profile—and high-altitude—location on the opposite side of Victoria Harbour.

With its debut in March, the 312-room Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, eclipsed the Park Hyatt at the Shanghai World Financial Center to become the highest hotel in the world. From its perch on floors 102 to 118 at the new International Commerce Centre at Kowloon Station, the hotel overlooks the surrounding Hong Kong islands and the Kowloon Peninsula. Each of the guest rooms offers a breathtaking city or harbor view, and corner rooms offer both vistas, thanks to the building’s mirrored sides and double-corner design.

A reflective 8,000-bottle wine wall wraps around the 102nd floor, lining the perimeter of the hotel’s three restaurants. Leather-embossed elevators deliver guests to the top of the skyscraper, where the Ritz-Carlton’s aptly named Ozone now holds claim as the world’s highest bar.
