Twin Farms, Barnard, Vermont

Sheila Gibson Stoodley

Twin Farms understands the appeal of isolation. The resort accommodates a maximum of about 40 guests on its 300-acre property, which is located in an area of Vermont where cell phones seldom work. On the grounds, you can ski, fly-fish, bike ride, canoe, play tennis or croquet, or go for a long hike—sometimes without encountering another guest. Twin Farms’ spa, called Out of the Woods, offers therapies including the Ultimate Body Treatment, a two-hour service that includes full-body exfoliation, hydrotherapy, a body wrap, a facial, and a scalp massage.
