Family Blend’s Newest Member
Cigar making is often a family endeavor, and one of the best examples of this is the privately owned Alec Bradley’s Family Blend of cigars, first released in 2009. Befitting its name, each blend honors the fathers of the three company executives, Alan Rubin, president; Ralph Montero, executive vice president; and George Sosa, vice president of sales.
The newest addition to the family is the GS57, a massive 6 x 60 topped off with the Family Blend’s signature fantail cap. Made in the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras, it features a Honduran Trojes wrapper, Indonesian binder, and a Honduran and Nicaraguan filler blend. Yet in spite of these meaty tobaccos and its impressive size, this is a pleasantly medium-bodied cigar. It is available singly ($7.50), or packed 20 to a cedar box ($150) that bears the signatures of all three obviously appreciative sons. Only 1,000 boxes will be produced initially.
