FrontRunners: Dragon Tale

  • The Editors

When selecting the Gurkha Black Dragon as Robb Report’s 2008 Best of the Best cigar, our judges called it a "move toward milder, better-balanced, more distinctive blends." Responding to feedback from customers who liked the cigar but wanted something a bit stronger, the company created the Gurkha Black Dragon Fury (www.gurkhacigars.com). This heady blend of Nicaraguan and Peruvian filler tobaccos, Nicaraguan and Cameroon binder, and Connecticut maduro wrapper delivers exotic notes like saffron and nutmeg—but with a stronger punch and a spicier finish than the original. Gurkha is making the Fury in an annual limited edition of 1,000 30-?cigar boxes, each priced at $400.
