Several years ago, attorney Bob Finkelstein mentioned to his friend Steve Wynn that his clients, the family of Frank Sinatra, were exploring possible business ventures, among them a restaurant and a wine label. The issue of that interchange was twofold: an Italian eatery at Wynn’s Encore resort overseen by chef Theo Schoenegger, formerly of Patina in Los Angeles, and Sinatra Family Estates, the Napa Valley–based winery that Wynn Resorts wine director Danielle Price developed with vintner John Schwartz in partnership with the Sinatra family. The winery’s first two releases—the 2007 "Come Fly With Me" and 2008 "Nothing But the Best" Cabernet Sauvignons—reflected the singer’s love of big red wines and steak house–style food; the latest addition to the portfolio pays homage to his Italian roots. The Sinatra Family Estates 2008 La Voce Toscana is a supple blend of Sangiovese and Colorino from vineyards near Fiesole, Italy. The wine contrasts with its ripe California cousins, exuding subtler aromas, such as dried cherry and attar of rose. The palate is restrained and elegant, offering up red-fruit flavors followed by layered hints of leather, sweet tobacco, and clove. ($75) www.sinatrafamilyestates.com

The DeLeón family’s hilltop property in Purísima del Rincón has a single water source that is on record as being Mexico’s purest—an asset of considerable value to the distilling process. First introduced to the United States in 2009, the family’s decades-old tequila brand includes DeLeón Reposado, an exquisite elixir aged in Canadian French-oak barrels. The latest U.S. arrival, DeLeón Añejo Tequila, is aged in Château d’Yquem barrels. Rich and silky, the spirit has a deep sherry color and a nose of caramel, vanilla ice cream, and white pepper. Each sip bathes the taste buds in an orgiastic medley of grilled pineapple, stewed apricots, coconut, bitter chocolate, and smooth bourbon. ($175) www.deleontequila.com
