Acclaimed craft bourbon distillery
Woodford Reserve continues its tradition of turning out innovative, limited-edition spirits with its sixth Master’s Collection release. Called the Rare Rye Selection, it comprises a set of two different rye whiskeys, each distilled from the same 100 percent rye mash recipe. One version matured in new charred oak casks, acquiring deep golden brown color, aromas of cinnamon, tobacco leaf, caramel, and apple, as well as spiced apple and rich berry flavors. The other matured in aged oak casks, where it developed light straw color, grassy rye grain, citrus, and spice aromas, and soft malt grain and vanilla flavors. The double release affords the buyer an unusual opportunity to compare the effects of differing maturation techniques applied to the same spirit.
