Best Of The Best 2006: Techno Music

<< Back to Robb Report, June 2006

When creating the sound for the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Minute Repeater Antoine LeCoultre, the company relied on empirical research instead of the subjective ear of a master watchmaker. Jaeger-LeCoultre, which has produced very few minute repeaters in the modern era, assembled a team of sound engineers to lay down ideal tonal parameters designating what the watch should sound like. To achieve those goals, the development team used such design innovations as attaching the gongs to the crystal for improved resonance. The Master Minute Repeater, the first modernist musical watch, proves that in watchmaking, science and art are not mutually exclusive.
