FrontRunners: Out of the Blue

<< Back to Robb Report, May 2009

Just as Bentley obtained seats from Bugatti, the Italian penmaker Tibaldi recently procured barrel-wrapping material from Bentley. The Tibaldi for Bentley Azure (www.tibaldi.it) is the fourth limited-edition pen produced in conjunction with Bentley Motors designers Robin Page and Jonathan Putner, who helped engineer the new barrel shape and spring-loaded clip. The leather on the barrel is the same material used for the Azure’s seats and lining. The winged Bentley logo is engraved into the head of the pen. Tibaldi is making only 100 examples of the 18-karat-rose-gold edition: 50 fountain pens ($29,995) and 50 roller-ball pens ($32,000).
