Air France Debuts Its New Business-Class Seating

As part of its more than $687 million Best and Beyond initiative to upgrade amenities on long-haul flights, Air France has unveiled its newly redesigned business-class seating. Conceived by Mark Collins of Design Investment, which has previously created cabins for Airbus and Lufthansa, the new business-class seating is designed with comfort and privacy in mind. The seat’s gentle curves envelop the passenger and create a distinct personal space, while its padded headboard blocks peripheral distractions. Passengers looking for some shut-eye during transit can transform their chair into a completely flat bed and enhance their respite with a complimentary duvet and extra-large pillow. All seats have direct aisle access, and each is equipped with a 16-inch high-definition touchscreen that can access a library of more than 1,000 hours of movies and television. For more productive passengers, the seat features an electrical outlet, a USB port, and noise-reducing headphones. The new business-class accommodations will be installed on 44 of Air France’s Boeing 777 airliners, which make up the bulk of its transatlantic fleet, between June of this year and summer 2016.
