Diamond’s single-engine D-Jet has been flying in test mode for a few years now, but the track to certification has slowed as the program seeks millions more in investment. Diamond aims to provide a simple step up for the piston-flying pilot. A bench seat in the cabin holds two or three, with lots of legroom and a foldout work desk. Should the engine quit at the maximum operating altitude of 25,000 feet, the airplane can glide for 65 miles. Deliveries may start as soon as 2011.
