King Air Upgrade Boosts Performance, Efficiency

Hawker Beechcraft’s latest upgrade to its venerable King Air twin turboprop adds new composite winglets and increases range by more than 20 percent. With four adults onboard, the C90GTx can cruise more than 1,000 miles. And it can carry almost double the payload compared to earlier models, up to 750 pounds with full fuel?that’s more than any entry-level jet, according to Beechcraft. The sleek winglets enhance climb performance and fuel efficiency. On shorter trips, the roomy cabin can seat up to seven passengers plus a pilot. The cockpit features Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics, the same system found in many of Hawker’s business jets, and upgraded Doppler weather radar detects turbulence. The company is taking orders for the C90GTx, with first deliveries scheduled for 2010. (316.676.5034, www.hawkerbeechcraft.com)
