The Hennessey Venom 1000 Twin Turbo launches the Dodge Viper beyond the supercar stratosphere occupied by the 600 hp Ferrari Enzo, Porsche Carrera GT, and Mercedes-Benz SLR. No one ever has accused the 510 hp, V-10-wielding Viper of being a slouch; Dodge’s sports car always has backed up its muscle-car swagger. However, with the assistance of twin Garrett turbochargers, the Texas company’s Venom blazes straight past these standard-bearers into Bugatti Veyron territory with 1,000 hp and a torque rating of 1,100 ft lbs.

Other performance-enhancing niceties include Brembo brakes and a KW lowered suspension. Hennessey says that the Venom will reach 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and 200 mph in 20 seconds; the company has reached a top speed of 220 mph in the convertible and claims the coupe can achieve 255 mph. Only 24 examples each of the closed and open Venoms will be built for 2006, at a cost of $225,000 apiece.
