Powered by a 420 hp 6.2-liter V-8, the new Escalade will be offered in two- and four-wheel drive as well as on two wheelbases—116.0 and 130.0 inches, the latter designated the ESV. That ESV model measures 224.3 inches overall, 20 inches longer than the standard model. The Escalade’s exterior features a sleek, tailored look with a large shield-shaped chrome grille flanked by new vertical all-LED headlamp clusters.
While the Escalade shares its platform with the full-size Chevy Tahoe and Suburban and the GMC Denali, the interior is exclusive to Cadillac, which is looking to compete with Range Rover by using high-grade materials. Wood accents and unique ambient lighting contribute to a more upscale environment. This detailed approach to crafting the interior is contrasted with the high-tech CUE interface that uses a dash-mounted 8-inch touchscreen to control entertainment, navigation, and climate.
The Escalade’s ride also benefits from a magnetic ride-control system that instantly adjusts the shocks to soak up bumps in in the road. The Escalade rides on standard 20-inch wheels, with 22-inch rims optional. Four-wheel disc brakes are standard, along with a host of safety features including brake assist and blind-spot and lane-departure warnings.
