The titans of tuning are at it again as John Hennessey and his team are about to unbridle another beast—the Hennessey 25th Anniversary Edition HPE800 Ford Mustang. For 25 years, Hennessey Performance has been boosting just that on premier models from major marques, and now a few select 2016 Mustangs will help commemorate the milestone.
Already a powerful pony, the enhanced model will be saddled with a supercharged 5-liter HPE800 V-8 engine bucking with 804 hp and 648 ft lbs of torque—an increase of 278 hp and 219 ft lbs of torque over the top-of-the-line stock versions. The bolstered charger will run a wild zero to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds on its way to a top speed of about 208 mph.
Along with Hennessey’s engine and 2.9-liter supercharger system, the performance package also features upgrades to the fuel injectors, pump systems, and axle-back exhaust system. Aerodynamic accents include Hennessey’s CarbonAero front splitter, side sills, and rear-lip spoiler. And each stallion will be shoed with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on Hennessey 20-inch wheels.
Finishing touches to the tribute vehicles will be in the form of exterior and interior badging and graphics, as well as headrests embroidered to mark the occasion. The Hennessey 25th Anniversary Edition HPE800 Ford Mustang makeover will be available for a total of only 25 hardtop or convertible GTs. But as this isn’t its first rodeo, Hennessey has more models in mind to help continue the celebration. (hennesseyperformance.com)
