Front Runners May 2015: Three-Wheeled Invasion

Production of the Tanom Motors Invader (tanommotors.com) series of reverse trikes (two wheels in front and one in back) has begun at the company’s facility in Virginia. Each of the Invader line’s roadsters and coupes is powered by a 1,344 cc, 4-cylinder Suzuki Hayabusa engine that produces 196 hp. The fastest Invader can reach a top speed of 160 mph. The trikes are classified as motorcycles in 45 states (and therefore require a motorcycle license), but the company says they handle like sports cars. Each model accommodates a driver and passenger in side-by-side seating. Prices range from about $55,000 to more than $72,000.
