FrontRunners August 2014: Tiger Tale

Deriving its name from an Indonesian word for “tiger,” the Porsche Macan Turbo (www.porsche.com)—the company’s new $72,000 compact SUV—is accordingly quick and agile. The Porsche Active Suspension Management and the Sport driving mode allow for spirited driving, and the optional air suspension and leveling system provide ample ground clearance for off-road excursions. The new 3.6-liter, twin-turbo V-6 produces 400 hp and 406 ft lbs of torque, which is delivered through a 7-speed PDK transmission to an all-wheel-drive platform that has a towing capacity of more than 4,400 pounds. When equipped with the Sports Chrono package, the Macan Turbo sprints from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.
