FrontRunners: Origin of Species

<< Back to Robb Report, April 2014

The original Ford Mustang served as the design inspiration for the new Equus Bass 770 (www.equus-automotive.com), a contemporary, no-compromise take on that early muscle car. Specifically, the 1967 Mustang fastback informed the Bass 770’s profile, but the new car has a unique front end adorned with Equus’s rearing-horse emblem. The Bass 770 features an aluminum chassis and a Superform aluminum body with carbon-fiber inner panels. It is powered by a supercharged Chevrolet 6.2-liter LS 9 V-8 that delivers 640 hp. The starting price for the Bass 770, which is built in Michigan and has been in development for six years, is $250,000.
