Lamborghini Celebrates Motorsports with the 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo Squadra Corse

Lamborghini is issuing yet another limited edition version of the Gallardo, this time recognizing its motorsports effort with a street going version of the Super Trofeo race car called the Squadra Corse.

The limited run is named after the recently formed department within Lamborghini that coordinates the company’s racing activities. Only 50 Squadra Corse units will be built, with 15 destined for the United States and three for Canada. Deliveries begin this month; the price, including destination fees, is $261,200.

Output from the car’s 5.2-liter V-10 is 570 hp, delivered to all four wheels, enabling the car to accelerate to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds. It has a top speed of 198.8 mph. The transmission is the e-gear 6-speed sequential paddle-shift manual, with an automatic clutch.

The Squadra Corse is available in the U.S. with a yellow exterior and a decal strip along the side in the Italian flag’s green, white, and red. The large adjustable static rear spoiler is finished in matte black, while the hood, front intakes, rear diffuser, and 19-inch forged-aluminum wheels are painted gloss black. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard equipment.

Inside, the interior is spartan, as befits a racing machine. The cabin is trimmed in carbon fiber and Alcantara, and the sport seats feature carbon-fiber shells, although standard comfort seats are available as an option. (www.lamborghini.com)
