FrontRunners: Riva Iseo

<< Back to Robb Report, Touring with Force

The recently launched Riva Iseo (www.riva-yacht.com) can be as quiet as its namesake—Lago Iseo, a northern Italian retreat not far from the constant commotion of Milan. The 27-foot runabout is available with an optional hybrid propulsion system that includes an all-electric cruising mode. When this system is engaged, the Iseo is powered by a 25-kilowatt electric engine that produces zero emissions and hardly any noise.

The hybrid option, which includes a diesel engine, is a first from Riva. The company also offers nonhybrid engine options, the most potent of which enables the vessel to achieve a top speed of 47 mph.

The Iseo, which is priced from about $400,000, can be ordered with a convertible cover and an optional bow thruster that offers precision handling. As stylish as it is quiet, the boat has a mahogany deck that is coated in 20 layers of lacquer, and its interior can be furnished with appointments from the Italian furniture company Poltrona Frau.
